Garrad House is adjacent to Friars Mead, also an Abbeyfield House which is a Residential Care Home

The first Abbeyfield house was opened in 1956 and was the initiative of a group who met at a house in Abbeyfield Road, Bermondsey, in southeast London, from which the society subsequently took its name. Three years later the National Abbeyfield Society was founded. The Abbeyfield movement spread quickly and there are now several hundred local societies throughout the United Kingdom. Garrad House is a member of the national Abbeyfield Society.

The houses depends not only on having good paid staff but also on having some active volunteers. So, whatever your background and interests there could well be an opportunity to volunteer that suits you. The time commitment can be as little or as great as you wish. For more information please contact the House.  We look forward to hearing from you.
